Bricata Lands Contract To Secure Large Health Insurance Network

Cybersecurity startup Bricata said it scored a “sizable win” after inking a contract with a health insurance agency.

With the deal, the Columbia-based startup’s network security platform will be used by Chicago-based Health Care Service Corporation. The nonprofit bills itself as the country’s largest customer-owned health insurance agency. HCSC has 22,000 employees, and said it serves 15 million members in five states where it operates subsidiaries under the Blue Cross Blue Shield banner. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Since they keep medical records with sensitive personal information, healthcare companies have become a target of cyber attacks. Along with healthcare, Bricata counts clients in government, finance and large law firms.
