Customer voice drives the focus on a new iOS and Android mobile app for Royal Farms

Royal Farms selected Mindgrub to develop a revitalized mobile app experience. Set to launch in early 2018, the app will engage users with the latest and greatest rewards, in-store deals and locations information.

Scott Smith, Director of Information Technology at Royal Farms, states, “We listened to our customers and had to provide a better mobile app. The new app will provide a much better experience for our customers and will also provide enhanced features in the near future like mobile ordering and payment to help make the visit as quick and easy as possible.”

The new mobile application will create a seamless native experience for both Android and iOS, allowing app users to easily track points accumulated via in-app engagement and in-store purchases to use toward products. The Royal Farms and Mindgrub teams believe that this loyalty system will generate a positive experience for those who are frequent customers to Royal Farms locations, ultimately resulting in more trips from the pump into the store. The app will create an avenue for overall customer engagement as well as convenience at checkout.

Scott continued — “I knew we had to pick a stellar team to help us and the Mindgrub team has created a truly 'fresh' experience, and their technical depth has been on point. With this partnership, we are really getting the quality we need to scale and grow our digital offerings. A solid mobile app is another good reason, besides chicken, to choose Royal Farms.”

In addition to the game and rewards program, the app will portray enticing images of the world famous chicken and western fries — food that was recently noted to be at the top of the ‘10 Gas Station Foods Across the Country that are Worth the Detour’ feature by Food and Wine Magazine. Writer Hillary Eaton noted, “If a glance at chicken-filled buffet trays glowing golden under the heat lamp alongside lotto tickets and Lays chips puts you off, check yourself and just order it already.”

Todd Marks, CEO at Mindgrub, and also a frequent RoFo chicken consumer, says, “Royal Farms is a Baltimore Institution, and a strong mid-Atlantic brand that is a perfect match for Mindgrub. Many of their goals are driven by strategic intersections of tech and design. A rebuild of their mobile app is just the start.”
