6/22/16

Kitchology, a food+wellness+tech startup headquartered in Germantown, was among the winners of this year's Maryland Incubator Company of the Year (ICOY) Awards, winning in the consumer product category.

The winners were announced Tuesday evening at the 16th annual awards held at the American Art Visionary Museum in Baltimore. The awards, chosen by a select committee of regional industry leaders and early-stage investors, recognized the achievements of current and graduated companies within Maryland's incubator community.

Kitchology has built a web and mobile app friendly, patent-pending, social cooking platform for people dealing with food allergies and special diets. At its core, Kitchology is a both a profiling engine that analyzes consumer activities, and a substitution engine that provides product substitutions and recommendations for shoppers and meal planners.

"We are thrilled with this recognition from the Maryland Business Community," said Iris Sherman, Co-Founder and President. "We gladly accept and share this award with our Kitchology team whose tireless efforts have made today possible. We can't wait to further serve the special dieter marketplace.

Kitchology was voted a fan favorite at both the 2014 and 2015 MD Startup Competitions, and has received funding from TEDCO.

"This is a terrific moment in Kitchology's history," stated Dr. Alain Briancon, Co-Founder and CEO. "What started as a discussion around a kitchen table is now empowering a community of consumers and brands to make better food decisions. In addition to the team, I want to thank our early investors and brands who believed in us."

Kitchology is the first company to create an integrated social cooking platform for the 160 million people dealing with special diets and the suppliers who sell to them. It allows consumers to overcome limitations imposed by food restrictions. Kitchology applies machine learning to nutrition science, profiling and social curation to help home cooks match and modify recipes to satisfy the challenges of food allergies, intolerances and special diets. Kitchology enables meal planning based on ingredients previously used and explored, personalized, ingredient substitutions, purchasing with intelligent shopping lists, step-by-step cooking, and fosters influencer relationships.
