Western Governors University (WGU) announced the appointment of Melissa Kammer to the WGU Northeast Alumni Advisory Council. Kammer is the vice president of human resources at Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) in Rockville, Maryland.

As a nonprofit, accredited, online, competency-based university, WGU established the council to grow and strengthen the university’s connections with key stakeholders in the region. Comprising leaders and influencers from a variety of sectors in the northeast, members also will provide counsel on the most effective ways WGU can meet its core mission to expand access to career-relevant, post-secondary educational opportunities that are respected by employers, other academic institutions and policymakers from Maine to Virginia.

Kammer joined CESLC in 2019 with 20 years of experience in human resources. Prior to that, she was director of human resources, strategy and growth at North American Partners in Anesthesia. She also served as a consultant with Paychex for several years.

Kammer, who resides in Boyce, Va., holds a B.S. degree in business and human resources management from Western Governors University.
