Felipe's Taqueria Announces New Restaurant Opening in Baltimore

6/23/20

Felipe's Taqueria, known for its scratch-made Mexican cuisine and hand-squeezed margaritas, announced its new location in Baltimore, Maryland which opened its doors last Monday, June 15, 2020. While many businesses have shuttered their doors and laid off employees during this uncertain time, Felipe's continues to forge ahead. Having retained 75 percent of its staff and given back to front line workers during COVID-19, the Taqueria is eager to open its doors and begin serving the people of Baltimore. The restaurant is located in the suburb of Baltimore, Towson, at 842 Kenilworth Drive, Towson, MD 21204.

Felipe's has emerged as a thought-partner with many local restaurants on how to navigate the COVID-19 crisis. Though facing the obstacles of being in the hospitality and service industry during COVID-19, Felipe's has overcome many challenges while still providing scratch-made Mexican cuisine and remaining in good spirits while serving customers daily at its eight other locations. True to its mission to "To throw our neighborhood a party every day," the restaurant is determined to remain #FelipesStrong and move forward with plans to open its doors to the Baltimore community, creating jobs and offering scratch-made options to customers despite the current climate nationally with restaurants closing down.

"We are looking forward to opening our doors while taking every precaution to maintain proper health and safety protocols when providing the perfect place to pick up a meal and an ice-cold margarita during this time," said Charles Arinder, Home Office Manager. "We hope to become a neighborhood hangout staple when dine-in is available, providing the ultimate scratch-made Mexican Taqueria experience to the Baltimore community."

The family-owned business has been fortunate enough to remain #FelipesStrong and to provide $500 bonuses to all hourly employees at its during this time in addition to their regular hourly wages. As a recipient of the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program, Felipe's has been able to not only retain a majority of their staff but to also provide a bonus when many of their employee's families may now be living off of one income. "We are very fortunate to be able to open another restaurant, expanding further across the U.S. during this time of extreme uncertainty," said Pike Howard, Director of Finance and Development of Felipe's. "In addition to paying back all adjusted salaries, missed profit-sharing to the leadership team for the first quarter, and providing the #FelipesStrong bonus, we are committed to our team and proud to be representative of how, if used correctly, the SBA program can be a true lifeline for small businesses during this time."

Felipe's Baltimore is open now for limited dine-in and outside seating and remains committed to the health and safety of its staff and customers. Felipe's will continue to adhere to superior cleaning practices daily. The newly opened restaurant is also available for online and call-in (443-991-8440) ordering in addition to delivery services via UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub, and BiteSquad. Felipe's Mexican Taqueria plans to host a grand opening neighborhood party and ribbon-cutting following the social distancing lift in the near future.
