Maryland Surpasses 16,600 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases, But Daily Hospitalizations are Slowing

While Maryland’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise, the number of new people being hospitalized for COVID-19 has decreased every day this week.

Maryland recorded 141 new hospitalizations due to COVID-19 as of this morning. There were 272 new hospitalizations on Tuesday, 167 on Wednesday, and 152 on Thursday, according to state figures.

Gov. Larry Hogan said last week that Maryland’s hospitalization rates were starting to show signs of stabilization, and he pointed to that as a signal that the state might soon be able to gradually begin its recovery process.
