Maryland’s Jalen Smith Named AP Third Team All-American

Maryland sophomore forward Jalen Smith has been named a Third Team All-American by The Associated Press, announced March 20.

Smith is the first Terrapin named to the AP first, second or third teams since Greivis Vasquez earned AP Second Team in 2010. Melo Trimble twice earned AP Honorable Mention (2016, 2017). See full list of Maryland AP all-americans below.

Smith has now earned Third Team All-America honors from the AP, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated and Sporting News.

Smith is also a top-5 finalist for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award and a top-10 semifinalist for the Citizen Naismith Player of the Year Award, while having already earned First Team All-Big Ten and All-Defensive Big Ten honors.
