The University of Maryland has issued guidance related to their response and preparedness for COVID-19 (“coronavirus”). Every decision has been made with two overarching goals: Keeping the campus community healthy and preventing the further spread of the virus.
These measures include:
- Prohibiting university-sponsored international travel and non-essential domestic travel;
- Postponing or canceling large events where social distancing or other measures cannot be implemented;
- Canceling classes for the week of March 23-27;
- Offering tele-work options to staff when possible from March 23-April 10;
- Transitioning students and faculty to online-based education from March 30-April 10.
These measures are prudent and timely. As an integral part of the University community, Maryland Athletics will implement several measures to protect the health and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans.
In-season practices and home and away games will continue to be held, with the following significant restrictions:
