Howard Hospital Foundation, which provides philanthropic support to Howard County General Hospital, inducted donors into the foundation’s giving societies. Roberta and Greg Kahlert of The Kahlert Foundation joined the Jim Rouse Visionary Society, which recognizes donors who have demonstrated a commitment to the health and wellness of Howard County by giving $1 million or more to support the hospital’s efforts.

Howard Hospital Foundation inducted Cyndi and Ron Gula, Julie and Jim Young and Mary Lisa and Chuck Langmead into the Leadership Society, which recognizes donors who have committed $100,000 or more to the hospital. Doug and Ginger Beigel joined both the Leadership Society and the Legacy Society, which recognizes donors who have designated the hospital as a beneficiary in their will, trust, life insurance or other retirement account.

“Welcoming donors into Howard Hospital Foundation’s giving societies is always a great privilege for the hospital and me personally,” said Steve Snelgrove, president of Howard County General Hospital. “We deeply appreciate the generosity of this year’s inductees whose philanthropy has enabled the hospital to continue growing and delivering the promise of health care in Howard County.”

Howard Hospital Foundation established the Jim Rouse Visionary Society last year. The society’s namesake, Jim Rouse, founded Columbia in the 1960s followed by the Columbia Medical Plan in 1969. The Columbia Medical Plan was a prepaid voluntary health insurance plan for Columbia residents that emphasized preventive medicine. Four years later, Howard County General Hospital was founded in 1973 as a 59-bed short-term care center.

Howard Hospital Foundation provides philanthropic support to Howard County General Hospital: A Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Through the generosity of many donors, the foundation helps Howard County General Hospital respond to the health care needs of the growing community, fostering world-class medical care and wellness services in a convenient, local setting.
