The Ravens have signed inside linebacker Josh Bynes, bringing back a member of their 2012 Super Bowl team to shore up a position group that has been a disappointment this season. Bynes is the second inside linebacker signed by the Ravens this week, following the signing of L.J. Fort Sept. 30.

Bynes, 30, began his career with the Ravens as an undrafted rookie out of Auburn in 2011. He did not make the team out of training camp but later joined the practice squad and was promoted to the active roster late that year. Bynes ended up playing for the Ravens for three seasons, including nine starts, and made the final tackle of Super Bowl XLVII when he stopped San Francisco 49ers returner Ted Ginn Jr. on the final play of the game.

Bynes then spent three seasons with the Detroit Lions, recording a career-high 80 tackles in 2015, and then played for the Arizona Cardinals the past two seasons. Bynes had 75 tackles, a career-high two sacks and five passes defensed last season with the Cardinals but was cut by the Cardinals this past spring.
