Jemicy School Names Eric Cole Dean of Students

Cole will help students maximize their academic and social potential

Jemicy School, which educates above-average to gifted college-bound students with dyslexia or other language-based learning differences, is pleased to announce that Eric Cole has been named Dean of Students for the Lower and Middle School.

Cole joins Jemicy from Severn School, where he served as the Middle School Dean of Students and math teacher. Prior to his eight years at Severn, he was the Middle School Dean at the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland, where he also taught math and coached soccer, lacrosse, and volleyball. Cole also worked in Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a high school special education teacher, and he taught high school at Kingsway Academy in Randallstown.

As Dean of Students for the Lower and Middle School at Jemicy, Cole will help promote and maintain a healthy, vital student community and school climate, as well as foster strong relationships with families and the extended community.

“We are excited to have Eric as our new Dean of Students for the Lower and Middle School,” said Ben Shifrin, head of school. “His experience in both teaching and administration – especially at the middle school level – makes him a perfect fit for our team at Jemicy. I look forward to working with Eric to help our students to maximize both their academic and social potential.”

Cole earned a B.S. at Towson University, where he majored in Secondary Special Education. He completed his M.Ed. in Leadership and Diversity at University of Hawaii, in Oahu, HI.
