Legendary Ravens safety Ed Reed was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Aug. 3, marking the third time a homegrown Raven has been enshrined in Canton, Ohio, joining linebacker Ray Lewis (2018) and offensive lineman Jonathan Ogden (2013).
Reed, drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft, played for Baltimore from 2002-2012 and finished his career by splitting the 2013 season with the Houston Texans and New York Jets. Reed is seventh all time in career interceptions (64) and first all time in interception return yards (1,590). Reed, the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, led the league in interceptions three times (2004, 2008 and 2010) and interception return yards twice (2004 and 2010). He returned seven interceptions for touchdowns, tied for 11th all time.
Reed had nine interceptions during the playoffs, including one during the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII victory against the San Francisco 49ers in February 2013. Baltimore won the Super Bowl, 34-31, in Reed's hometown of New Orleans. Reed played in 15 playoff games with the Ravens. His first playoff win came in January 2009 during the wild-card round against the Miami Dolphins. Reed returned an interception for a touchdown in that game.
