The Health Facilities Association of Maryland (HFAM) has announced that seven members have been recently honored with a 2019 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

The Silver Award is the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes long-term and post-acute care providers that have demonstrated their commitment to improving the quality of care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

“HFAM’s exclusive Maryland partnership with AHCA/NCAL provides an opportunity for our members to be honored at a national levelfor their dedication to improving quality outcomes,” said Joseph DeMattos, HFAM President and CEO. “These recipients are making a difference for their residents and communities and I commend them for this outstanding achievement.”

The 2019 HFAM Silver Award winners include: Brighton Gardens of Columbia, Brighton Gardens of Friendship Heights, Sunrise at Fox Hill, Sunrise at Montgomery Village, Sunrise of Columbia, Sunrise of Pikesville, and Sunrise of Rockville.

Based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program challenges member providers to achieve excellence in quality through three progressive levels—Bronze, Silver and Gold. Members at the Silver award level develop and demonstrate effective approaches that help improve performance and quality outcomes.

A total of 183 long-term, post-acute, and assisted living care providers in 42 states and the District of Columbia were recognized with a Silver Award this year.
