MANA Employees Prepare Care Packages for 200 Dialysis Patients

6/12/19

BALTIMORE (June 13, 2019) Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a national health care crisis, and Mid-Atlantic Nephrology Associates, P.A.(MANA) has made it a priority within their company and the community where they do business.

In addition to providing medical care to patients with chronic and end stage kidney disease, MANA recently teamed with a National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland and Delaware (NKFMDDE) to host their second Drive for Dialysis event.

Eighteen MANA employees volunteered in a hands-on team building activity (at the company’s corporate headquarters in Halethorpe), to prepare care packages for 200 Baltimore area dialysis patients.

Designed to educate and entertain patients who spend up to 12 hours a week in dialysis, the packages contained such items as: coloring books, colored pencils, a stress ball, water bottle and renal friendly recipes. The volunteers augmented the bags with MANA items, including hand sanitizer and pens.

“We see first-hand the multitude of challenges that our patients face every day, and our company is privileged to support the National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland and Delaware, which impacts so many lives in so many positive ways,” said Suzanne Przybyla, MANA’s executive director.

“Our physicians, advanced practitioners and support personnel look forward to participating in NKFMDDE events such as the Drive for Dialysis,” she added. “We’ve been a proud annual partner for many years and plan to support this valuable organization for many years to come.”

With more than 2,800 Maryland residents currently awaiting a lifesaving kidney transplant and 700,000 dialysis patients in the United States today, the timeliness of this partnership is critical.

“Thanks to MANA’s support, vital resources will reach the people who need it most,” said Pattie Dash, executive director of the National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland and Delaware. “We are incredibly grateful for their generosity through financial support and volunteerism.”
