Owners holding “Everything Must Go Sale” in Mount Vernon store now through August 31

Steve Appel and Lee Whitehead, co-owners of Nouveau Home and Interior Design, announced today that they will search for a new location for their design studio while closing their 33-year old, award-winning retail store at 10 West Eager Street in the City’s historic Mount Vernon neighborhood.

Nouveau’s design studio, which provides interior decorating services and consultation to residential and commercial clients, is currently housed within the retail store. It is headed by Appel, who serves as lead designer.

Appel cites a combination of reasons -- the rise of online shopping, competition from national chains, an upcoming increase in the wholesale price of furniture, and expected tariffs – for the retail store closing. “It’s the right time for us to reinvent our business model and focus on interior decorating,” he explains.

Throughout the summer, Whitehead and Appel are holding an “Everything Must Go Sale” of all in store inventory. A wide range of eclectic furniture, lighting, and art – the type of merchandise Nouveau has become known for -- will be available for 40 per cent off. The store’s unique accessories – from housewares to giftware – will be sold at a 25 per cent discount. Sales will continue weekly until August 31.

Nouveau is open seven days a week. Store hours are available by calling the store at (410) 962-8248, or visiting Nouveau online at  http://www.nouveaubaltimore.com or on Facebook.

“We are grateful for the support of our loyal retail customers – many of whom have become friends,” says Whitehead. “It’s been our pleasure and privilege to help decorate hundreds of local homes and businesses.”

Adds Appel: “Over the years Nouveau has evolved to meet the needs of homeowners and businesses in the Baltimore area and beyond. We look forward to continuing to serve customers through our design studio.”

ABOUT NOUVEAU HOME & INTERIOR DESIGN:

Nouveau was founded by childhood friends Steve Appel and Lee Whitehead as a boutique in Howard County’s historic Savage Mill in 1986. They relocated the boutique and expanded it to a full-fledged store, Nouveau Contemporary Goods, at 519 North Charles Street in the City’s Mount Vernon neighborhood a year later. In 2004, Nouveau relocated to north Baltimore’s popular Belvedere Square, where it opened an in-store design service and earned its reputation as Baltimore’s premier contemporary furnishings store. The perennial Best of Baltimore award-winning small business, now called Nouveau Home and Interior Design, moved to the City’s historic Mount Vernon neighborhood in 2015. For more than three decades, Nouveau has served thousands of residential and commercial clients throughout the region, with a dedication to customer service and a mission to make Baltimore more beautiful, one home and one business, at a time.
