Orioles Draft Adley Rutschman No. 1

With the first overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman.

Originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 40th round in 2016, Rutschman became a candidate to go first overall in 2019 after exploding as a sophomore. Rutschman hit .408/.505/.628 in 2018.

A two-time All-American catcher for defending NCAA champion Oregon State, Rutschman was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year as a junior in 2019. He hit .411/.575/.751 with 17 home runs, 76 walks and 38 strikeouts.
