Funds raised by customers across dealerships in Catonsville, Owings Mills and Silver Spring will support research grants in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Following a successful 2018 Subaru Share the Love event – an annual fundraising effort held at Subaru dealerships around the country, MileOne Autogroup is pleased to announce that its customers have raised $48,892 for their chosen hometown charity, the American Cancer Society (ACS). Heritage Subaru Catonsville raised $22,784, Heritage Subaru Owings Mills raised $18,169 and Herb Gordon Subaru raised $7,939.
MileOne will present ACS a check on Friday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Subaru Catonsville, 6624 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21228. Representatives from Subaru and MileOne General Managers Shawn Davie (Owings Mills), Ed Sarecky (Herb Gordon) and Steve Knolle (Catonsville) will join ACS Eastern Division Executive Director Tswana Sewell, Senior Manager of Community Development Beth Garbolino and Community Development Manager Cristal Willis.
All of the funds raised will go directly to research grants in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
As a partner of the American Cancer Society for the past 20 years, MileOne has contributed over $3.4 million in the fight against cancer. Every fall, MileOne’s 40 dealerships and corporate offices participate in a three-month long fundraising season that includes raffling off a vehicle (in 2019 the raffle vehicle is a 2019 Honda CR-V EX), an online auction and store-based fundraising efforts such as pies in the face, barbecues, car shows, raffles and more. All of the money raised stays in the local community, funding local research, locally sponsored ACS events and a supplemental transportation program for patients who need help getting to and from cancer treatment.
Over the last 11 years, through the Share the Love Event, Subaru of America and its retailers have donated more than $140 million to national charities and over 1,170 hometown charities.
