To say Chris Davis' 2019 season has started off on the wrong foot would be an understatement. Entering play April 9, Davis sports a .000 batting average. He has struck out in 15 out of his 32 plate appearances. He also set the major league record for most consecutive at-bats without a hit by a non-pitcher (Davis is at 49 dating back to last September).
The slugger's fall from grace has been well documented for more than a year. Davis had a miserable 2018 season, during which he slashed just .168/.243/.296 and posted the lowest WAR (-3.1) in baseball, according to Fangraphs.
Despite a terrible 2018 season and promises to rework his swing and approach during the offseason, former Orioles shortstop and current MASN analyst Mike Bordick has yet to see any identifiable changes in Davis at the plate.
