From the moment Andrew Wu shed his interim title of athletic director at Goucher College and was officially named to the position in January, the former goalkeeper and soccer coach felt a surge of motivation mixed into the excitement of reaching a long-held goal.
Being an interim can have its advantages, according to Wu. There are fewer expectations to perform and more of a focus on holding the position until someone, whoever it may be, comes along to fill it.
Eight months after being named as the interim, Wu was that someone, and that is when the pressure began to emerge. But for a former athlete like Wu, the feeling is welcomed.
