Gary Kendall 'Ecstatic' To Manage Norfolk Tides

Gary Kendall, who has been with the Baltimore Orioles since 2004 and most recently spent eight seasons as the manager Double-A Bowie, was recently tabbed the new skipper of Triple-A Norfolk by the organization.

Kendall told The Bat Around with Stan "The Fan" Charles Feb. 9 that when former Norfolk manager Ron Johnson wasn't retained following the 2018 season, the club approached him about the position around the time Mike Elias took over as general manager. The Orioles intended to let big league manager Brandon Hyde select his own Triple-A manager, Kendall said, but Hyde and Elias decided to stay in-house with Kendall.

"I was very ecstatic and very honored that they chose me," Kendall said.
