Former Baltimore Orioles infielder Manny Machado will sign with the San Diego Padres, according to reports. Machado, 26, was drafted and developed by Baltimore and played for the Orioles from 2012-2018.
ESPN's Jeff Passan was first to report the deal. The contract is for 10 years and $300 million, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Machado was one of the two best free agents on the market this offseason along with former Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. The process dragged out for both players, but Machado is expected to officially sign with the Padres shortly. Machado has played shortstop and third base throughout his major league career, though it's unclear what position he'll play for San Diego.
