NAIOP Maryland captured a National Merit Award from NAIOP in the Membership category among large-sized chapters at the recently-held Chapter Leadership and Legislative Retreat held in Washington, D.C.
NAIOP Maryland is the local chapter of the international association comprised of professionals working for real estate development organizations and affiliated companies including architectural, accounting, law and brokerage firms.
NAIOP Maryland recently attracted its 450th member, representing the highest membership total in the history of the more than 30-year old chapter. The NAIOP-MD Membership Committee is co-chaired by EJ Edelman of Colliers International and Meghan Roy of The MacKenzie Companies.
“Especially considering the competitiveness in the local environment among groups targeting the real estate community, Meghan, EJ and their 10-person membership committee continue to attract and retain quality members to NAIOP Maryland at an impressive rate,” explained NAIOP-MD President Vince Bagli. “We have grown our membership by more than 10 percent in the past year by offering high-value with meaningful networking and educational programming combined with legislative representation in Annapolis.”
“Many of our committee members function in business development roles in their jobs and spend a great deal of time networking and having conversations with new companies,” stated Co-chair EJ Edelman. “We know that NAIOP Maryland manages to surface in many of these discussions. Our committee compiles a wish list for prospective members regularly, and personal telephone calls are made to each candidate. In certain instances, a prospect is courted for several weeks or even years.”
“A significant benefit of NAIOP-MD membership is the opportunity to have face time with our partners, which are comprised of the major players in the local commercial real estate industry,” explained Co-chair Meghan Roy. “When you go to an event or serve on a committee, you can count on having interaction with the most prominent real estate development companies in Maryland. This translates to having touch points with these organizations at the highest levels.”
NAIOP is the nation’s leading trade association for developers, owners, investors and other professionals in industrial, office and mixed-use commercial real estate. Comprising 18,000 members in 55 chapters, it provides networking opportunities, educational programs, research on trends and innovations and strong legislative representation.
