University of Maryland football coach Michael Locksley has announced that linebacker Keandre Jones and wide receiver Sean Savoy have joined the Terrapin football program. Jones, who is from Olney, Maryland, transfers in from Ohio State and has one year of eligibility remaining, while Savoy, a Washington, D.C. native, comes from Virginia Tech and has two years of eligibility remaining.
Jones, a 6-foot-2, 228-pound linebacker that attended nearby Good Counsel High School, played in 34 games during his three seasons at Ohio State. He played in all 14 games in both 2017 and 2018 when the Buckeyes won back-to-back Big Ten Conference championships.
Jones finished his Ohio State career with 29 total tackles, including 10 stops in 2018. He also registered 1.5 tackles-for-loss, a quarterback sack and one pass break-up. In a victory against No. 15 TCU, Jones blocked a punt that led to a safety. He totaled 15 tackles in 2017 and he played in five games during the 2016 season as a true freshman.
