Former Maryland safety Darnell Savage Jr. wants to play professional football, and not just because he's talented enough to follow in the footsteps of former Maryland defensive players like Sean Davis, Yannick Ngakoue and Jermaine Carter Jr., all of whom have had success in the NFL.
He also wants to live out the dream for his friend and teammate, Jordan McNair.
McNair, a former Maryland offensive lineman and McDonogh standout, collapsed due to heat exhaustion during a workout in late May and died two weeks later. Savage will participate in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., Jan. 26 after months of investigations, coaching changes and media scrutiny surrounded the Maryland football team throughout the 2018 season.
