Former Baltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Mike Mussina, who pitched for the team from 1991-2000, was one of four players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame this year via the Baseball Writers' Association of America ballot.
Pitchers Mariano Rivera and Roy Halladay and designated hitter Edgar Martinez were also elected via the writers. The quartet will join reliever Lee Smith and designated hitter Harold Baines, both of whom were elected via the Today's Game Era Committee in December.
The six new Hall of Famers will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., July 21.
Mussina garnered 76.7 percent of the vote in his sixth year on the ballot. Mussina debuted on the ballot in 2014 with 20.3 percent of the vote, but his support grew steadily since then.
