ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale disagrees with the notion that players should sit out once they've established themselves as a top pick, believes alterations should be made with regard to transfers in college sports and says the Maryland men's basketball team will be "dangerous" once the postseason rolls around.
Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen made news on ESPN's "The Jump" Jan. 15 when he said Duke star freshman forward Zion Williamson should "shut it down" and begin preparing for the 2019 NBA Draft. Williamson is averaging 21.2 points per game to go along with uncommon athleticism.
Vitale said he understood concerns players may have about suffering an injury leading up to the draft, but he was uneasy about basketball -- or football players in bowl games -- sitting out to protect their draft stock.
