After a franchise-worst 115 losses in 2018, the Baltimore Orioles have begun a full organizational reset starting with the hiring of general manager Mike Elias and manager Brandon Hyde.
Former Orioles shortstop Mike Bordick praised the new regime's early efforts to return Baltimore to the "Oriole Way" of decades past by hiring coaches with player development experience and implementing a consistent culture that spans from the minors to the top of the organization.
"From the get-go, Mike Elias wanted a fresh new look in the organization, a fresh feel," Bordick said on The Bat Around with Stan "The Fan" Charles Dec. 29. "… You have to respect that. You also have to respect the fact that the Angelos [family] made this type of commitment and thought that there was such a need for the whole organization to really get regrouped and revamped in a major way."
