Johns Hopkins University director of athletics Alanna W. Shanahan appointed Greg Chimera as the Blue Jays' interim head football coach Jan. 9. The announcement comes one week after the sudden passing of Jim Margraff, who had served as the Johns Hopkins football coach for 29 seasons. A national search to permanently fill the position will begin immediately.
Chimera, a 2009 Johns Hopkins graduate and a four-year member of the Blue Jay football team, recently completed his 10th season as a member of Margraff's staff, including his fifth as the offensive coordinator.
Since joining the staff in 2009, Chimera has helped guide Johns Hopkins to 10 consecutive Centennial Conference titles, nine trips to the NCAA Playoffs and a record of 102-17 (.857).
