SANS Announces Agenda for Baltimore, Maryland Cyber Security Training Event

1/3/19

SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training, today announced the agenda for SANS Baltimore Spring 2019 (#SANSBaltimore) taking place March 2-9 in Maryland. The event features hands-on immersion style training courses to help security professionals accelerate their career and win the war against cyber adversaries. Bonus evening talks, including a talk by SANS Principal instructor Adrien de Beaupré (@adriendb) entitled Modern Information Security: Forget Cyber, It's All About AppSec, will round out the agenda.

According to Adrien de Beaupré, "This discussion will focus on how modern information security has evolved and what we will need to move into the 21st century. We need a new paradigm in security with a workforce that understands application security: the new frontier. For too many years we said no, now we really need to say yes. We need to help the organization fulfill their business needs with properly designed systems and applications. The industry re-invents itself every five years. Which means that we have to do the same, evolve. Incorporating strategies that involve Agile development, deployment to cloud, and DevOps are becoming more important than ever. We need Cyber Security teams to be part of that conversation."

de Beaupré will also teach the SEC542: Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking course which helps students move beyond push-button scanning to professional, thorough, high-value web application penetration testing. Students will learn how to assess a web application's security posture and convincingly demonstrate the impact of inadequate security that plagues most organizations.

SANS Baltimore Spring 2019 features courses covering a variety of topics including cyber defense, ethical hacking, penetration testing, digital forensics, and security management. Those new to cyber security will benefit from the SEC401: Security Essentials Bootcamp Style course. More seasoned professionals will benefit from courses like SEC501: Advanced Security Essentials - Enterprise Defender, SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling, SEC524: Cloud Security and Risk Fundamentals, and SEC575: Mobile Device Security and Ethical Hacking.
