BCRP closes out 2018 with a number of celebratory, family-friendly activities

Loads of holiday fun and moments to remember are underway at Baltimore City Recreation & Parks (BCRP). The agency is gearing up for a busy December as it looks to close 2018 with a number of family-friendly activities.

Holiday Poinsettia Display and Sale at the Howard P. Rawlings Conservatory

Wednesday - Sunday, December 1-30, 10 AM - 4 PM, free entry

Poinsettias are the signature holiday flower. No longer is red the main attraction, guests will marvel at the beautiful orange, pink, and white variations of this holiday favorite. Throughout the duration of the display, many beautiful poinsettias will be available for sale and the Conservatory gift shop is well-stocked with books, card, and other items to help guests learn more about the flowers.

Reindeer Run at West Shore Park

Sunday, December 9, 8:30 AM, $5

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to join in our last $5 5K of the season. Now in its third year, the BCRP $5 5K Series brings families, friends, and co-workers together in various city parks for a non-competitive run. Christmas Village will be onsite to provide warm beverages and other goodies. Registration and more information can be found here.

Breakfast With Santa at the Cylburn Arboretum

Saturday, December 15, 9 - 11 AM, $12 (2 and under free)

Eat pancakes and be merry with Santa! Guests will enjoy story time, face painting, a hot chocolate bar sponsored by Zeke’s Coffee, caroling karaoke, prizes and giveaways, and much more! Tickets can be purchased here.

A Golden Affair at the Dominic “MiMi” DiPietro Ice Rink

Sunday, December 16, 11 AM - 5 PM,

Baltimore City Recreation & Parks invites guests to celebrate Mimi DiPietro Ice Rink and its 50 years of service in the Patterson Park community with A Golden Affair. Beginning at 11 AM special guests, members of the DiPietro family and other invitees will enjoy a VIP reception. At 1 PM, the doors will open to the public with an Ice Show featuring Next Ice Age and the Mount Pleasant Performance Troupe followed by a free, public skate from 3 - 5 PM. The event is free with registration.

“Baltimore City Recreation & Parks is excited to provide programming to keep families engaged beyond the warmer months,” said Reginald Moore, executive director of BCRP. “We invite Baltimore residents and visitors to enjoy all of BCRP’s indoor facilities this winter from our 40+ rec centers to the indoor ice arenas at Mount Pleasant and MiMi DiPietro, there are endless opportunities for affordable, family fun here.”
