The Ottobar, the local rock club that started in 1997 in a modest space downtown and grew to be a North Baltimore institution for local musicians and touring acts alike, will have new owners, the club announced in a Facebook post today.
A new ownership group will take over in 2019. According to the calendar on the venue’s website, shows are booked as far out as March 15 of next year, the second of two nights headlined by the post-hardcore band Thursday. But it’s not immediately clear what will happen to the club beyond that.
The listing agent for the property, Adam Meissner of DBM Real Estate Group, told Baltimore Fishbowl a sale has not gone through yet.
“The ownership group has [had the club] for 20 years, and they feel it’s their time to move on and bring something new to the neighborhood,” he said.
