Alexandria K. Montanio Joins MVLS’ Board of Directors to Inspire Young Attorneys to Share their Talents with the Less Fortunate

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS), the largest provider of pro bono civil legal services to low-income Marylanders, today welcomed Alexandria (Alex) K. Montanio as a member of its Board of Directors. At the age of 29, Ms. Montanio is the youngest board member to join MVLS’ leadership. An associate at Gordon Feinblatt LLC, and committed to offering pro bono services, Ms. Montanio will help encourage new generations of attorneys to provide free legal services to Marylanders in need of legal assistance.

“Today, MVLS is extremely proud to make history by adding not only the youngest board member to our leadership, but also one of the most inspiring attorneys who is a rising star within our profession,” said Bonnie Sullivan, executive director, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS). “Alex will give us a unique perspective on how we can motivate young attorneys to give back to their community, and how to best connect with these professionals.”

Ms. Montanio is an associate at Gordon Feinblatt LLC in the firm’s health care and litigation practices. Her practice areas include commercial disputes, employment, property and health care issues. Prior to joining Gordon Feinblatt, Ms. Montanio was a law clerk for the University of Maryland Medical System. As a dedicated MVLS volunteer attorney and MVLS CAN (Community Advocacy Network) member, she has deep roots within Baltimore’s social justice community. She is a member of the board of directors for the Dundalk Renaissance Corporation where she is instrumental in organizing expungement clinics through her collaboration with MVLS.

“I’m honored to join an organization that thrives on the talents and goodwill of volunteer attorneys who can help change the lives of so many Marylanders,” commented Alex Montanio, associate Gordon Feinblatt LLC and MVLS board member. “My hope is to inspire more young attorneys to step up to take on pro bono cases. Together, we can ensure people don’t lose their homes, that criminal records holding someone back from employment get expunged, and so much more. Our collective efforts start a positive chain reaction, as we impact not just the client in front of us, but all of the people in their families too.”
