Show Your Soft Side Launches #TEAMSOFTSIDE During RAVENS VS. BRONCOS

9/20/18

As “Softies” take both sides of the field at M&T Bank Stadium this Sunday, September 23, during the Baltimore Ravens vs. Denver Broncos game, Show Your Soft Side (SYSS), a public service campaign that works to end animal cruelty, is proud to officially launch its #TeamSoftSide initiative aimed to activate the community.

#TeamSoftSide aims to bring about positive change and impact the lives of animals everywhere. “Softies from the fields of professional sports and entertainment are on the front line of our mission to end animal abuse but accomplishing that mission will require a literal army. We’d like to add you to our ranks,” Show Your Soft Side announced on their website.

By joining #TeamSoftSide, members of the general public will become educated and empowered to help the animals in their own communities. Along with quarterly newsletters, members will have the chance to take part in virtual events that benefit local rescues and shelters, earn “Soft Side” gear and be the first to welcome new “Softies” on board.

“#TeamSoftSide is an opportunity for the community to be their own advocates and make an impact where they live,” said Riesett.

Show Your Soft Side is excited to celebrate the launch of #TeamSoftSide as NFL “Softies” cover the field at M & T Bank Stadium. Denver Broncos kickerBrandon McManus and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Onwuasor both joined Show Your Soft Side ahead of this NFL season and will be playing this Sunday. As well, Baltimore Ravens players like guard/tackle Alex Lewis, wide receiver Chris Moore, offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, and tight end Nick Boyle, are all “Softies” that have joined Show Your Soft Side in their effort to end animal cruelty.

In addition to the “Softies” on both sides of the field, the Baltimore Ravens will also be honoring former U.S. Army Sgt. Matthew White, a Show Your Soft Side “Softie” since October 2016, as the Dietz & Watson Hometown Hero of the game. On his second deployment to Afghanistan, White was injured on a dismounted patrol by an improvised explosive device (IED) and lost his right leg. He credits his rescue dog, Nike, with giving him the strength and ability to pull through the difficult time of recovery and rehabilitation.

Ahead of the game on Sunday, September 23, the “Softies” at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood will graciously dedicate their world-famous Ravens tailgate to benefitting Show Your Soft Side. White and former Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta will be in attendance and giving out Show Your Soft Side lapel pins to wear proudly at the stadium and every day. Game attendees will also notice a dedicated Snapchat filter to inspire the public’s participation in #TeamSoftSide.

Show Your Soft Side will be continuing the celebrations with a launch party for #TeamSoftSide in Baltimore with a bash at Loch Bar at 240 International Drive, Baltimore, MD 21202 on September 25. Attendees can enjoy Tito's Vodka cocktails and food specials throughout the event and 20% of all purchases made at the event will benefit Show Your Soft Side.

About Show Your Soft Side:

Show Your Soft Side is a public service campaign that was created to change the mindset of young people who all-too-often view the maiming and torturing of defenseless cats and dogs as a sign of “toughness” or “manhood.” The campaign’s message that compassion towards animals is a sign of strength and not weakness is one that, overnight, struck a nerve with old and young alike. Today, Show Your Soft Side, Inc., a registered 501c3, uses its reach and resources to build a better world for animals, and in doing so, build better adults.
