The Container Store To Open New Distribution Center In Harford County

9/4/18

The Container Store, Inc., the only national retailer solely dedicated to providing storage and organization products, will build and lease a 600,000 square-foot distribution center at the Eastgate 95 Industrial Park in Perryman. The project is expected to create 150 full-time jobs by the end of 2019. The 40-year-old company has been on Fortune’s 100 “Best Companies to Work For” list for the past 19 years.

“Harford County is an ideal location for The Container Store to be able to better serve our customers on the East Coast and we look forward to becoming a part of this strong and vibrant community,” said Val Richardson, vice president of real estate for The Container Store.

The state, through the Maryland Department of Commerce, and Harford County worked closely with the company to find a location in Maryland. The company is eligible for a number of state tax credits, including the Job Creation Tax Creditand Enterprise Zone credits.

“It is a tremendous win to have a leading national retailer like The Container Store grow its operations and add 150 new jobs in our state,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “Maryland offers an extremely competitive and attractive location for companies looking to distribute their products to a large percentage of the U.S. population, and this impressive new facility is further proof that Maryland is truly open for business.”

“The Container Store looked at Maryland and saw what we already know: this is a great place to do business,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “They saw our highly-skilled workforce, our strategic location, and our business-friendly climate that will allow them to get up and running smoothly. We are excited to support this innovative company’s expansion to Maryland.”

“We are excited that The Container Store will join other national companies choosing to locate in the Perryman Peninsula, and we welcome the jobs they will bring to Harford County and the region,” said Harford County Executive Barry Glassman.
