The Quarry Springs estate condominium community has scheduled its next “Fine Art Show” for Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16 from 1 pm to 4 pm at 8101 River Road in the Bethesda section of Montgomery County. The event, which will showcase 46 original abstract and realistic impressions of Taiwanese-American artist Lung-Chin Shih, is free and open to the public. The artwork will be for sale and exhibit. Advance reservations are preferred by contacting Valerie Wells at valerie@quarrysprings.com or 240.762.6809.

1788 Holdings, LLC is the developer of the 13-acre community, with sales exclusively handled by The Mayhood Company. Quarry Springs is presently comprised of fifty residential units ranging from 2,200 to 4,500 square feet of space among two separate buildings and is 70% sold. Valet parking will be available during event hours.

A professional artist with more than thirty years of experience, Shih is recognized in Taiwan as well as the United States for her creative and realistic use of vibrant colors when producing acrylic on paper and oil paintings, as well as charcoal impressions. The majority of her work is abstract paintings. She recently moved from Texas to Bethesda with her husband and continues to produce new artwork pieces. Outdoor scenery and portraits are central themes of her portfolio, which will be displayed for sale in the Georgetown model of Quarry Springs, which overlooks the waterfall and rock wall landscaping element of the estate community. The corner residence features three sides of light, offering picturesque views of the surrounding grounds.

“My inspiration is derived from traveling the world with my husband to experience exotic locales, as well as my emotional response to both happy and tragic events that occur in the modern world,” Shih explained. “Music and rhythm also shape my expressions, which are defined by different shades, textures and lively color schemes. I never title my pieces because I want people to interpret the meaning of each piece of artwork for themselves, and allow the art to also speak for itself.

“Our Fine Art Show events consistently attract impressive audiences, and our continuation of this programming is in response to its immense popularity,” said Larry J. Goodwin, Principal, 1788 Holdings. “For each event, it is our intent to blend fine art with fine living, and it represents the perfect opportunity for the local community to tour our estate community in an innovative setting,” explained Larry J. Goodwin, Principal, 1788 Holdings.”

Ms. Shih’s aunt is Chen Jin, an accomplished artist recognized for her gouache painting with an emphasis on figures and paintings that were selected for display for the Imperial Art Exhibition and the Taiwan Art Exhibition. In the 1960s, she accepted a commission from Taipei’s Fa-kuang Temple and created a series of pieces entitled The Buddha’s Work.
