Have Some Drinks to Celebrate Baltimore’s Sister City Rotterdam

Maybe you knew that Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, is one of Baltimore’s sister cities, but did you know just how similar they are? They “have approximately the same geographical and population size.

“These two cities have in common a deep maritime history, large port operations in estuarine waters, and both are home to prestigious universities, medical schools, world-class museums and other cultural institutions, and burgeoning tech/startup scenes.”

So says the Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee, and hey, wow, that’s a thing that exists, promoting friendship between citizens of both cities. Tonight, members of the committee, along with members of the Netherlands Embassy in Washington D.C. and the groups D.C. Dutch, the Netherland-America Foundation and others will convene at Little Havana for a happy hour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of D.C. Dutch.
