The head football coaches and athletic directors from Towson and Morgan State met with the media at Glory Days Grill in Towson, Md., Aug. 16 to discuss the 25th matchup between the Tigers and Bears and what the rivalry means for the city of Baltimore.
Separated by five miles, the two teams will renew the series at Morgan State's Hughes Stadium Sept. 1 in the "Battle For Greater Baltimore." Previously, the Tigers and the Bears had met every season from 1979-2011 before putting the series on hold until last year's game, a 10-0 win for Towson.
"We've had two Division I teams that have lived here, played here for ages. We are going on year 50," Towson head coach Rob Ambrose said. "As a kid growing up, I wondered, 'How are these teams not playing? This is our town. This is our city. Why wouldn't we put all the fans in the state of Maryland in the same place as many times as humanly possible?' Now that we are, it is about time. I want this to continue for eternity."
