John Gill

SafetyPIN Technologies Inc., a company devoted to helping consumers meet individuals on online platforms - whether it is for babysitting, dating, or many other local services - safely, has added another uniquely accomplished security expert to its Board of Advisors.

John Gill, a professional with decades of security experience at the highest levels in the public and private sectors, will join a number of distinguished law enforcement officials and top business executives on the board.

For 25 years, Gill served as a member the U.S. Secret Service in various capacities in the United States and abroad. Following his retirement from the agency, he became the Chief Security Officer at the White House, where he developed, managed and implemented the security policies and programs supporting the White House complex and the Executive Office of the President. In all, he served four U.S. Presidents.

For the past nine years, he has worked in the private sector, first as an executive in the field of security business development and consulting, and currently as the Global Director of Security for Soros Fund Management/HHS.

Over the course of his career, Gill has become a recognized authority on myriad security issues, with global expertise in the areas of protective intelligence, risk management, workplace violence, crisis management, and business continuity.

Said Jenny Thompson, the founder and chief executive of SafetyPIN: “It probably goes without saying that we are thrilled to be joined by someone with John’s abilities, experience, and knowledge. He is an exceptional, one-of-a-kind addition to our Board of Advisors, a group of professionals who are integral to the service we’re providing to a rapidly growing number of consumers. I couldn’t be more proud that someone with John’s knowledge and background has joined us on this mission.”

Thompson launched SafetyPIN to take the risk out of hiring individuals via the internet.

SafetyPIN conducts comprehensive reviews of individuals and vendors who apply for the company’s SafetyPIN stamp of approval.

SafetyPIN’s proprietary process includes an assessment of more than 10,000 sources of criminal, financial, and personal data, as well as a behavioral evaluation developed by law enforcement professionals and a clinical psychologist.

Consumers who hire service providers or arrange dates via the web are rolling dangerous dice if the people they’re interacting with haven’t been thoroughly vetted for reliability and safety. A bad actor can cause financial and even physical harm.

SafetyPIN performs the vetting in a way that consumers on their own cannot, relying on law enforcement professionals and technology. Plus, if someone has a SafetyPIN, you know they are authorized to work in the US.

The service is a benefit not only for buyers, but also for sellers. Approved service providers receive a virtual badge that they can use to promote their businesses, and the same goes for those looking for dates, renting a room, or trying to buy or sell a car online.

“This is an innovative, essential, and affordable service that is protecting people and promoting all types of business relationships on the internet, by far the most important channel today for identifying and connecting with others,” said John Gill. “I’m looking forward to being a part of SafetyPIN and doing my part to enhance safety, which has been my life’s work.”

Individual service providers on sites and apps like Rover.com, Care.com, and Taskrabbit, can apply for a SafetyPIN badge by providing some basic information and answering a few short questions on the company’s website, www.getasafetypin.com. The data they furnish will be encrypted for their protection and will never be disclosed publicly. Applicants who secure a SafetyPIN can share it with anyone they choose online and offline, giving them an invaluable selling point. Consumers will understand that their prospective service provider has met SafetyPIN’s strict requirements and earned its trusted seal.
