Broken Water Main in Hampden Shuts Off Service for Homes, Businesses

A water main break at Union and Buena Vista avenues in Hampden shut off water service for neighbors on Monday, leaving homes without water service and prompting businesses to close.

Baltimore Department of Public Works spokesman Kurt Kocher said via email that a 10-inch main broke, leaving 20 combined homes and businesses without water service.

City work crews blocked off a short stretch of Union Avenue from Buena Vista to Clipper Mill Road on Monday as they worked on the broken pipe in the heat. The hole appeared to be about six feet deep and took up roughly half of the two-lane road.
