Orioles Infield Prospect Rylan Bannon Settling In With Bowie Baysox

8/1/18

Orioles prospect Rylan Bannon acknowledged there's a little extra added pressure after coming to the organization as part of the return for infielder Manny Machado, but said it's nothing he and the others who came over from the Los Angeles Dodgers can't handle.

"We're used to playing under pressure, in pressure situations, stuff like that," Bannon said on Glenn Clark Radio July 27. "It's kind of cool to hear your name thrown out in the same sentence as Manny Machado, but at the end of the day, first base is 90 feet away, you go out there and play baseball. We're all great baseball players; we're here for a reason. We just go out there and do our thing each and every night and it kind of takes care of itself."

Bannon, an eighth-round pick by the Dodgers in the 2017 MLB Draft, has struggled a bit since being traded to the Orioles’ organization and reporting to Double-A Bowie. He’s batting .143/.182/.333 with one home run and two RBIs during seven games since the trade. He batted .296/.402/.559 with 20 home runs and 61 RBIs with High-A Rancho Cucamonga before the trade.
