Urban Axes, the Totally Safe Bar that Combines Drinking and Ax Throwing, Celebrates Grand Opening This Week

What happens when you combine drinking at the bar and trying to hurl an ax at a wooden target? Find out at the Baltimore location of Urban Axes, the chain of bars that combines these seemingly incompatible activities. Well, at least incompatible outside the context of the Renaissance Festival.

First announced back in February, Urban Axes is open now and will hold a Grand Opening party for its Highlandtown home later this week, offering specials on beer and wine and ax-throwing tutorials during a one-hour session with a coach, on both Friday and Saturday.

As crazy as this whole thing sounds, there are now six Urban Axes locations on the East Coast and in the Midwest. The first facility opened in Philadelphia in 2016, per The Sun. And apparently this trend is catching on. Just this past April, NBC News did a story on this medieval sensation sweeping our nation.
