Enjoy An Evening Of Family-friendly Activities At Evergreen Museum

7/10/18

By Brandon Weigel, Baltimore Fishbowl

With nary a cloud in the sky, tonight provides a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the long summer evenings of sunlight. The Evergreen Museum and Library, once the country retreat of railroad baron John W. Garrett, is capitalizing with an evening of family fun outdoors and access to parts of the Gilded Age estate.

The front lawn will have plein air painting, and there will also be sidewalk chalk for kids, a scooter derby, lawn games, bubble-blowing and more. (A note on the scooter race: It’s BYO scooter, and no bikes or skateboards are allowed. Anything with a motor is prohibited, so no Birds.) The appropriately summery snacks of Italian ice and watermelon will be on offer, too.

Attendees can bop around the first floor of the museum, which includes the newly restored main hall and stairway and a library of rare books and manuscripts.
