A couple Baltimore County teens are currently jailed after police said they stole a Jeep and, when confronted by officers in Dundalk, drove it head-on into a marked patrol car.

Police spotted their suspects, identified as 16-year-old Jeremy Patrick Hager and 19-year-old Derek Darnelle Stroman, with four others climbing into a red Jeep Liberty on Shore Road just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. After a tag check indicated the SUV had been reported stolen that morning from a home about a mile away, officers blocked Shore Road with one marked and one unmarked cruiser, activating their emergency lights.

According to the police department’s account, Hager, the alleged driver, then “accelerated directly” toward the marked cruiser, “ramming the front of the patrol car with such force that it partially drove up onto the front bumper and hood.” Both the police car and the Jeep were disabled in the collision.
