The University of Maryland named Damon Evans its new athletic director June 25. Evans had served as acting athletic director since April. Here are five things to know about the Terps' new head man.
1. A Georgia background
Prior to his 2014 arrival in College Park, Md., Evans served as athletic director at the University of Georgia from 2004-2010. Evans' Georgia teams were successful, capturing 13 national championships under his watch. He also went to high school in Georgia, and he attended UGA as an undergraduate. Evans played wide receiver on the Bulldogs' football team from 1990-1992. In three seasons, Evans tallied 23 receptions for 260 yards.
