Jonathan Schoop passed Brian Roberts for most home runs by an Orioles second baseman during Baltimore's 7-4 win against the Boston Red Sox May 18.
Schoop, who was called up to the Orioles in September of 2013, hit a home run in his major league debut and has 93 career home runs in 575 games. Roberts hit 92 home runs in 1,327 games with the Orioles.
"It means a lot. It's a great honor," Schoop said of the achievement. "It's a great honor to pass B-Rob. He was one of the guys who taught me a lot of things that I know now. And I feel good to accomplish that. There's many more to come and [something] you want to achieve by yourself, but you want to achieve like a team goal, too. You want to get a ring or whatever. But it's a great honor."
