Ray Daue

For his exceptional achievement in non-profit work, Ray Daue, UM St. Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC) Foundation Board Chairman, has been named the 2018 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the year by the Maryland chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

An active fundraiser for local non-profits for more than 40 years, Mr. Daue has secured an estimated $15+ million to serve a wide range of causes in our community before taking a volunteer leadership role at UM St. Joseph. He has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the well-being of UM St. Joseph Medical Center and to the community through his non-profit work.

Although Mr. Daue has a “day job” as Senior Vice President at Willis Towers Watson, he spends countless hours per week, recruiting and meeting with potential donors, sharing the story of St. Joe’s and working on the strategic vision for the UM SJMC Foundation.

During his tenure at UM St. Joseph, Mr. Daue has successfully spearheaded numerous initiatives, both capital and programmatic. Under his leadership, the hospital has helped secure:

  • $2 million to fund the renovations and expansion of our Mother Baby Unit. After completing this successful campaign and is now focused on raising funds for a complete redesign of surgical services at UM St. Joseph.
  • cornerstone gifts for the Geraldine G. Schultz Fund for Breast Cancer Survivors, part of UM St. Joseph’s Cancer Institute, which will support the distinctive psychosocial and physical needs women experience in the survivorship stage of their breast cancer journey.

Currently he is focused on raising funds for a complete redesign of surgical services at UM St. Joseph. His passion for philanthropy doesn’t stop there. He also likes to get others involved. After taking the helm as Foundation Board Chair in 2012 when there were 13 board members, he has doubled the size of the board to its current composition of 26 members.

A true leader and dedicated community servant, Mr. Daue will be honored at the annual National Fundraising Day Conference on June 4, 2018.
