St. John Properties, Inc., a Baltimore-based real estate development and management company, has promoted Steven Zahner to Director of Landscape Planning and Design. Mr. Zahner, who has worked with the company since 2014 and has more than 18 years of industry experience, was formerly Design Manager/Landscape Architect.

In his new role, Mr. Zahner will oversee the St. John Properties’ hardscape, landscape and public space design program and strategy that adds value to the company’s portfolio of mixed-use business communities; office and warehouse buildings and retail shopping centers. These duties encompass directing and interacting with outside design professionals and contractors to achieve the proper level of aesthetic appeal at each property.

“With the continued expansion of our corporate portfolio, it was necessary to reorganize our existing landscape architect team to leverage the specific talents of each professional,” stated Thomas Pilon, Senior Vice President of Development for St. John Properties. “Steven’s promotion enables him to oversee new planning and design strategies, utilizing his demonstrated creativity and leadership skills. The assumption of these responsibilities allows our Director of Landscape Management, Reed Fulton, to focus on the landscaping requirements of our existing buildings.

Mr. Zahner earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Maryland at College Park.
