Connie Rhodes, Rhodes Development and Emily Brown, American Office described the mechanics of the NAIOP Maryland Mentorship Program to the group consisting of professionals 35 years of age and under. The initiative, designed to match select younger members of the commercial real estate association with established veterans of the industry to forge meaningful and long-term relationships, was initiated last year. Rhodes and Danielle Beyrodt of Hill Management Services are co-chairs of the committee. Other committee members are Emily Brown; Kate Jordan, Lee & Associates and Spencer Perry, BB&T. The mission is to provide guidance and support to members that seek advice as they navigate their commercial real estate career.

Scott Slosson, Director of Development for 28 Walker Associates, the developer and owner of the mixed-use McHenry Row project, provided an overview and tour of the high-rise, 223-unit multifamily building to the Developing Leaders. Delivered last fall, nearly 100 units have been leased and more than 50 are currently occupied.

McHenry Row is a 20-acre mixed-use project that currently contains apartment units, commercial office space, a Harris Teeter grocery store and complementary restaurants and retailers. In the past year, Samos Greek Island Grill; Diamondback Brewing Company, a locally-owned craft brewery and Ruby 8 Noodle and Sushi have opened at the project.
