City Bikes and ElectriCityBikes Open at White Flint Station in Rockville, MD

H&R Retail, a retail real estate brokerage firm headquartered in Bethesda, MD, is pleased to announce that City Bikes and its sister company ElectriCityBikes have both opened locations in White Flint Station in Rockville, Maryland occupying a combined 3,631 square feet. The new stores are in part a response to growing demand in biking. Both stores opened on Friday, March 30, 2018 with City Bikes occupying 11610 Rockville Pike and ElectriCityBikes occupying 11612 Rockville Pike. H&R Retail, represented the landlord, a partnership between Investment Properties, Inc. and the Nellis Corporation.

City Bikes, voted the #1 DC Bike Shop for 2 years in a row by Washington Post readers, already has locations in Adams Morgan, Tenleytown, and Capitol Hill. Celebrating their 30th year in business, City Bikes is renowned as the first shop in the DC area to showcase sporty around town bikes and promote the bicycle as a lifestyle solution. Enthusiast can find the finest road and mountain bikes featuring S-Works from Specialized.

According to founder Charles McCormick, “our Chevy Chase trailside shop has moved to 11610 Rockville Pike - conveniently located at the beginning of the Bethesda Trolley Trail in Rockville. Construction on the Purple Line has closed the Georgetown Branch of the Capitol Crescent Trail for the next 5 years. We had the privilege to serve the Chevy Chase community for the last 15 years, and plan on returning to Chevy Chase Lakes area once the trail is rebuilt.”

In 2016 City Bikes introduced their co-brand, ElectriCityBikes - a space dedicated exclusively to the specific needs of electric power assist bicycle clients. Continuing the City Bikes tradition of innovating transportation solutions, electric bikes have opened cycling to folks who face physical challenges on a traditional style of bicycle and commuters who don't want to arrive to work sweaty. The ElectriCityBikes location at 11612 Rockville Pike is the second ElectriCityBikes location.

Since purchasing White Flint Station, Investment Properties, Inc. has implemented exterior design improvements and upgrades to the shopping center. H&R Retail has been working with the new owners on marketing and leasing the center to ensure the merchandise mix is relevant and reflects the current market. Jim Whalen, of Investment Properties, Inc. states, “the addition of City Bikes and its sister company, ElectriCityBikes, will be a welcome addition to the Pike District business community and will help solidify a merchandising mix that will keep White Flint Station activated on a continuous basis.”
