Four Observations From The Terps' Win Against Butler

The Maryland men's basketball team defeated Butler, 79-65, in College Park, Md., Nov. 15 as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games. The Terps improved to 3-0. Here are four observations about the victory:

1. Sophomore point guard Anthony Cowan had his best game as a Terp.

After Maryland extended its lead to 61-52 with a little more than nine minutes remaining in the second half, the Terps had five straight empty possessions. Maryland's next possession, after Butler cut the lead to five, looked destined to be its sixth consecutive empty possession when junior guard Dion Wiley fumbled the ball with the shot clock beginning to dwindle.
